Benjamin Franklin, after the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention, was asked by a concerned citizen of Philadelphia what type of government had been created after four months of closed-door meetings by the delegates; he responded, "A republic, if you can keep it."

God at inaugurations

If the Wallbuilders citations were not "official" enough, hat tip to Jim Robbins at The Corner for noticing this portion of the Pledge Protection Act in the Congressional Record. Every president has acknowledged God upon assuming the office. Mr. Newdow is fighting against history.
